The website has been a bit quiet of late, as I dealt with the rush of Christmas orders and then crunching the year end numbers to see how my business is doing. Also looming on the horizon is my Tax Return ... always fun!
I closed my Twitter (X) account in 2024 and I am now on Threads, which is taking a bit of getting used to! I am not posting much on there but it is interesting to scroll through and see what folks are saying. There seems to be a lot of posts at the moment where creative businesses are sharing their sales break downs each month, or what they have sold (or not) at markets and events over the past 12 months. I think it is important to take stock and work out how your business is doing but one of the best bits of information I read/heard (sorry I can't remember where!) was "Only compare yourself to yourself" - and this is such good advice. When you let go of worrying about what others are doing and just focus literally on your own business, it is much less stressful! So you are not going to get a list of numbers from me!
I did more events than previously in 2024 (25 days worth & all outside!), as well as being in my unit in Red Brick Market most weekends when I wasn't at events (I did manage a few weekends off too, thankfully!). Although events are stressfull - especially outside in all weather conditions - I love doing them!
Also in May 2024, we lost the MerseyMade shop on Paradise Street in Liverpool city centre - which opened in November 2019. However, good news was to follow in September 2024, as the space was transformed into Wander, an equally fabulous shop, full of gorgeous things! I changed my stock slightly for Wander and currently I supply a range of smaller, open edition, prints that are exclusive to the shop. Give them a follow on Instagram @wanderstoreuk
I also had work selected for exhibition in Liverpool Art Fair and the CHET Art Exhibition in Crosby. I am aiming to exhibit more in 2025, so stay tuned!
A HUGE thankyou to everyone who bought a print off me in 2024 - either online, from Red Brick, from MerseyMade or Wander, from the Albert Dock Makers Market, the Bombed Out Church Makers Market or from Pop Up in the Palm House in Sefton Park.
Bring on 2025!
